In the first 5 months of 2016, 17990 units were sold in Kazakhstan. new cars, which is 59,42% lower than last year’s sales (44340 units). At the end of May of this year, dealers in Kazakhstan sold 3479 units. cars (excluding Kamaz sales). Compared to the previous month, there is a slight decline in sales by 10,43% and this year there are 63,29% less sales compared to May last year. In May 2015, a preferential lending program was launched, which significantly stimulated sales of Kazakhstani cars. Therefore, the sales figure of May last year is difficult to overcome until the market stabilizes.
Based on the results of five months, Kazakhstan-made cars occupy a share of 20,4%, while in 2015 the share for the same period was 15%. For the first time in the Republic of Kazakhstan, a new player in the automotive market, the JAC brand, introduced only at the end of 10, entered the TOP 2015 brands among passenger cars in the overall sales structure. In terms of the number of cars sold, Lada took first place at the end of last month - 681 units. Toyota is in second place in the ranking, with a quantitative increase in sales compared to last month (+7%). In the top three is Renault with 288 units. sales in May and only 2170 units. since the beginning of 2016. Hyundai is in fourth place with a result of 235 units. and with a total result of 1313 units. sales since the beginning of the reporting year. Kia closes the top five leaders – 226 units. in May, the final result since the beginning of the year is 1041 units.

The trend of increasing the share of domestic cars in the structure of official sales continued in May. In May, the arsenal of domestic manufacturers included 869 units. sales, against 748 units. last month. Sales of Russian cars decreased by 412 units. compared to April.

Sales of cars, SUVs and pickups by mass and premium segments:
Automotive market of Kazakhstan based on the results of five months of 2016 decreased in the mass segment by 58%, in the premium segment – by 38%. Sales in quantitative terms amounted to 15070 units. and 5567 units. respectively

The best-selling cars remain B class cars, which account for 35% of total official sales for the first five months of 2016. In terms of sales volume in this segment, the leaders are Lada Priora (1724 units), Hyundai Accent (826 units) and Volkswagen Polo (803 units). Compact SUVs are next with a market share of 14%. The leading position in this segment belongs to Renault Duster (1058 units), followed by Toyota RAV4 (405 units) and Kia Sportage (275 units). The top three are closed by class C cars, of which 2016 units were sold in 1825. The segment leaders are Skoda Rapid (327 units), Hyundai Elantra (228 units) and Toyota Corolla (193 units).
Among premium cars, based on sales results, the first four positions are occupied by Lexus cars with the LX (148 units), RX (59 units), NX (45 units) and ES (28 units) models. Mercedes-Benz cars close the top five
GLE-Class (24 units sold since the beginning of the year).
The average amount of cars sold (passenger cars, SUVs and pickups) in May amounted to 6,4 million tenge.
