The Kazakhstani car market grew by 12% in April

The sales volume of new cars in the Republic of Kazakhstan based on the results of four months from the beginning of the year amounted to 34800 units. This is 28,84% less than in January-April 2014 (48922 units). However, compared to last month, the official market grew by 11,92%, with sales of 9392 new cars.

In April, the automobile market in Kazakhstan began to recover. The domestic auto industry is also regaining its lost positions. The share of locally produced cars among all official sales in April was 12% versus 10% in March.

Sales of domestically produced cars showed a quantitative decline of 62,28% compared to the same period last year (3842 units versus 10185 units). However, compared to the previous month, there was an increase in sales by 30,3% (1161 sales units in April versus 891 units in March 2015).

The number of new imported cars on the official market also increased by 9,73% in quantitative terms compared to last month (8231 units versus 7501 units in March). In annual comparison, the decline in the number of imported new cars was 20,1% (30958 units versus 38737 units in the same period last year).

Russia traditionally ranks first with a market share of 71,5%. Kazakhstan is in second place with 12% market share. Third place is occupied by cars produced in Japan with a market share of 6,6%. Next come Uzbek-made cars, namely Daewoo with a 3% market share. Sales of Geely cars, which are produced in Belarus, continue to maintain a positive growth rate since the beginning of this year and occupy 1,7% of the official market. The number of imported new cars from Turkey fell by 28,16% compared to the same period last year. British cars showed sales of 52 units in April. In a year-on-year comparison, cars show a quantitative decline in sales of 59,89% and a loss of 3,2% in the new car market share.

The Hyundai Elantra was the best-selling passenger car in April. Its result for April is 197 units, against 127 units. in March of this year.

Among domestically produced SUVs, sales growth compared to last month is shown by such cars as Toyota Fortuner, Kia Sportage Hyundai Tucson, SsangYong Kyron, SsangYong Nomad and others.

Growth in the commercial vehicle segment was driven by higher sales of Iveco Tipper and Iveco minibuses in April.

According to ACAB estimates, cars worth USD 754,9 million have been sold on the official market in monetary terms since the beginning of this year. In January-April 2014, this amount was equal to 1123,8 million USD. Thus, there is a decline of 32,82%.

The share of national producers accounted for 93,7 million USD, which is 61,27% less than in the same period last year. Imported cars were sold in the amount of 661,2 million USD. Decline in monetary terms by 25,02% compared to January-April 2014. Last year this figure was equal to 881,8 million USD.

Almaty still remains the leader in official sales of new cars. In second place is the capital of our country. It accounts for 14,17% of cars sold. Next come the cities of western Kazakhstan - Atyrau with 9,59% and Aktau with 7,10% market share. The city of Ust-Kamenogorsk closes the top five. This city accounts for 5,96% of the official sales share.
