Kazakhstan car market in August - results and forecasts

In August 2016, the Kazakhstani car market showed good results, confirming the forecasts of AKAB analysts about overcoming the market bottom and gradual recovery.

As of September 1, 2016, AKAB members jointly produced 6 pieces of equipment, of which:.

  • 5100 vehicles were produced by Allur Group (SaryarkaAvtoProm JSC)
  • 434 cars of “Hyundai Com Trans Kazakhstan” LLP
  • 390 vehicles of KamAZ-Engineering JSC
  • 180 vehicles of SemAZ LLP (including Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan)

To date, the level of localization is 33%, and the share of domestically produced cars in the total sales structure in August approached 35%.

Speaking at the IV Forum of Machine Builders of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Andrey Lavrentiev, President of AKAB, said that: “Most Kazakhstani plants have fulfilled their investment obligations regarding localization.

We have reached new levels. I am ready to report what the companies did in 2016, namely: Hyundai entered the export markets, the Semaz plant supplied welding and painting on bodies, Kostanay plants in the process of implementing a large global CKD project: welding, painting Peugeot cars, Jac cars, which new investors came from China is what we were doing, increasing localization no matter what.”

 

In the near future, the model range of Kazakhstani cars will be replenished with Ankai buses, the license agreement for which was signed the other day.

AKAB members plan to significantly expand the production line in all segments and pay maximum attention to attracting innovative and environmentally friendly technologies to Kazakhstan.

It is worth noting that leading international experts, such as the leading international analyst of Autostat and the international partner of Price Waterhouse Coopers - Christoph Stürmer, the international expert of the global automotive industry Mark Richardson and the general director of the China Automotive Industry Advisory Committee An Qing Heng, assessing the prospects for the Kazakhstani automotive market, noted the need to develop joint projects related to innovative technologies and new business models. Since this is a global trend in the automotive industry, which in any case will reach Kazakhstan.

Chinese investors have already invested $32,5 million in the development of automotive production. and express further interest in developing technological cooperation with Kazakhstan and increasing joint production in the field of electric vehicles. Recall that China today is the world leader in the segment of budget electric cars, having sold more than 330 thousand electric vehicles of its own production in 2015.
