Kazakhstan car market in February 2017. Preliminary results

In February 2017, it was sold in Kazakhstan 2 new cars (up to 3 years of age). February sales exceeded January results by 15,29% (2 new cars were sold in January).

Compared to the same period in 2016 sales in February dropped by 21,79% (in February 2016, 3 cars were sold). The first quarter of the year is traditionally characterized by a decline in sales after the December pre-New Year peak.

The sales leaders were LADA (587 cars + 48,61% sales growth compared to January 2017), TOYOTA (473 cars +17,37%), RENAULT (240 cars -7,34%), GAZ (170 cars + 0,59%), RAVON (159 cars +4,61%), HYUNDAI (154 cars -12,99%), VOLKSWAGEN (152 cars +53,54%), KIA (136 cars +14,29%), NISSAN (91 cars +30%), UAZ (87 cars -13,0%).

Compared to January, the order of market leaders has changed in February; changes may occur in the top five during the year, as new brands and models of domestic production enter the market, however, well-known imported cars are not going to give up their positions in sales.

According to ACAB analysts, 2017 will be a year of stable market, since the peak of the crisis in the automobile market of Kazakhstan occurred in 2016, and the first trends towards recovery were demonstrated by the end of last year.

The recovery in sales will be slow compared to the last crisis period, since the situation is somewhat complicated by objective factors: the volatility of the oil market, alarming signals from the banking sector of Kazakhstan, changes in market conditions due to its stay in the EurAsEC.
