Astana, June 28, 2017 June

On June 28, at the 2017 World Expo in Astana, Kazakhstan, IVECO held a conference dedicated to the development of modern transport. The forum took place in the conference hall of the Italian pavilion.

Among the invited guests were the Ambassador of Italy, Mr. Ravagnan, who opened the forum, Fabien Gliize from the Economic Service of the French Embassy in Kazakhstan and representatives of large municipalities of Kazakhstan. This event was also attended by Roberto Valfre di Bonzo, regional manager of CNH Industrial for Central Asia and manager of relations with government bodies and institutions in Russia, Belarus and Central Asia, and Mr. Lavrentiev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Allur Group, the official distributor of IVECO in Kazakhstan.

Roberto Valfre di Bonzo said the following: “EXPO 2017 provides us with an ideal platform for exchanging views on the development of modern transport. We organized this forum to discuss the way forward for the transportation industry as we face the biggest challenge of the century: a future in which we protect the environment through efficient and responsible use of energy. A key objective of IVECO's product strategy is to provide our customers with vehicles that will make their business development more sustainable in terms of the end result and better for the environment.

The forum is dedicated to alternative drive technologies and their contribution to the development of modern transport. This is one of the key issues discussed at EXPO 2017 under the theme “Future Energy - Proposals for Solving the Most Serious Problem Facing Humanity.”

IVECO and IVECO BUS are consistently committed to their philosophy of developing modern transport, and their focus on innovation and new technologies makes these brands ideal partners on the path to more innovative transport mobility alternatives: vehicles with low environmental impact and high technology for more security.

IVECO's innovations in electric, hybrid and gas technologies over the past 20 years have contributed to reducing the environmental impact of the transport industry. Today, more than 23 IVECO vehicles with alternative traction systems are on the road. IVECO is the first manufacturer to offer a full range of gas models, ranging from light commercial vehicles to heavy trucks and buses.

Thanks to its commitment to the development of modern transport, IVECO has achieved the largest share of the European market for alternative drive vehicles and thus become a leader in this field.

With vehicles such as the New Stralis NP (Natural Power), IVECO is breaking new ground in the field of long-haul modern transport: The New Stralis NP is the first gas-powered truck specifically designed for long-haul transport. It delivers the same power and torque as its diesel sibling while offering a low total cost of ownership.

The improvements introduced in the Stralis NP help reduce the total cost of ownership by 3% compared to the previous model, which at one time already showed fuel consumption 40% lower than the diesel equivalent.

With a record range of 1 km, the vehicle is designed for long-distance transport and its quiet engine operation has the added benefit of delivering overnight deliveries in urban areas.

In public transport, IVECO BUS's full range of electric, hybrid and gas buses contribute to significant reductions in emissions and noise pollution, which explains the brand's popularity with city authorities in capitals such as Paris and Madrid. Hybrid buses consume 30% less fuel than conventional models. They reduce CO emissions2 by 33% and nitrogen oxides (NOx) by 40% compared to diesel counterparts. This means a reduction of 25 tons of CO2 annually for a standard bus and 37 tons for an articulated bus – i.e. more than twice its own weight.

IVECO BUS was also selected by the city authorities of Astana as the official bus supplier: it provided a fleet of Citelis buses in preparation for EXPO 2017, and with the recent deliveries of the Urbanway and Urbanway Hybrid models, 570 IVECO BUS buses will be operating in the Astana public transport system.

The forum ended with a tour of the Italian pavilion and a demonstration of the new IVECO Evadys bus, presented for the first time in Kazakhstan.

Launched on the European market in 2016, Evadys offers unrivaled versatility and profitability. It is specifically designed to meet the growing demand on regional and national routes, as well as for local and medium-haul tourist transport - tasks for which the bus must have excellent "intercity and excursion" characteristics.

The Directions for Modern Transport Forum provided IVECO with an excellent opportunity to show Kazakh and foreign authorities and the media that the development of practical and viable alternative fuel solutions, as well as the commitment to innovative mobility, are key milestones in IVECO's corporate and product strategy.

With innovative and forward-looking solutions that make a significant contribution to the continuous reduction of the transport sector's environmental impact today and in the future, IVECO is certainly the ideal partner for the development of modern transport.
