First Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov commented on the situation around agricultural machinery manufacturers in the country. As a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan told the media at the end of the Government meeting in Nur-Sultan, the department is currently dealing with this issue, negotiating with the NCE Atameken and discussing the situation within the ministry.

"We are discussing all this now. This issue was discussed with Atameken. In principle, domestic mechanical engineering must be supported in any case. There are also questions regarding foreign agricultural machinery. Prices are rising year after year, there is government support, despite this we do not raise them (prices). We at the department are looking into this case.”, stated Aidarbek Saparov answering questions from journalists at the end of the Government meeting.

When asked whether the Ministry of Agriculture considers the accusations of fraud against machine builders justified, the First Vice Minister of Agriculture did not answer, explaining only that the department was looking into this case.

For reference: The accusation of fraud against mechanical engineers in Kazakhstan was made on July 25, 2019 during regional events in the Turkestan region. Akim Umirzak Shukeyev, former Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and now the head of the Turketsan region, called manufacturers of agricultural equipment in the Republic of Kazakhstan “fraudsters who want to make money from the farmer.”
