The situation of the “Chinese” in Kazakhstan

The first Chinese cars in Kazakhstan were registered in 1998 - YUEJIN and PUYUAN trucks. The segment of Chinese commercial vehicles began to develop actively since 2004, when literally in a year the number of registered vehicles increased fourfold (from 39 in 2004 to 144 in 2005).

In the overall market structure, the share of Chinese cars is small, however, it tends to grow; the bulk of Chinese cars registered in Kazakhstan are commercial vehicles. Among medium- and heavy-duty Chinese trucks, the HOWO brand accounts for more than a quarter of all registrations.

An interesting fact is that the growing popularity of Chinese brands in Kazakhstan coincided with the next stage in the development of the automotive industry in China itself, when this country became a world power in the production and consumption of cars. As new brands and models appeared, interest in these models grew in Kazakhstan.

Today, the most popular brands in the secondary market are: Howo, Foton, Shacman, Lifan, Shaanxi, Dongfeng, XCMG.

The main reason for the growing popularity of Chinese brands is their low price, which in tough economic conditions is a determining factor for Kazakhstanis. High interest from buyers, improved quality, the willingness of Chinese companies to invest in Kazakh production and interest in the Russian market became the reasons for the development of production of Chinese brands within the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Today we produce several Chinese brands of passenger and commercial vehicles, such as: JAC, Ankai, Foton, Shacman, FAW, Geely (since 2016)
