Car sales continue to decline.

Official sales of new cars in Kazakhstan reached their lowest level since 2013. November result: 6368 units. This is 16,1% less than the October results (7590 sales units in October 2015) and half as much as last year’s result (13707 units in November 2014).

In total, since the beginning of the year, car dealerships have sold 91050 units. new cars. The quantitative decline in official sales amounted to 39,5% year-on-year (compared to 150497 units of sales in January-November 2014).

The decline in sales is a consequence of the continuing weakening of the tenge against the dollar. In the second ten days of November, the tenge exchange rate devalued by 10% compared to the first day of the month (307,3 tenge USD/KZT (30.11.2015/279,2/1.11.15) versus 0 USD/KZT (XNUMX/XNUMX/XNUMX)). There is also a saturation factor in demand for cars.

The state program of preferential lending stimulated demand for domestic cars and saved the market from an even deeper decline. Thus, over the past year there has been a certain saturation of the share of new cars.

However, in December, according to forecasts of the Association of Kazakhstan Automobile Business (AKAB), sales are expected to increase due to the resumption of subsidies for Kazakhstan-made cars and traditional New Year discounts.

At the end of November, the largest losses in quantitative terms fell on the share of Kazakhstan-made vehicles. Thus, sales of imported cars in quantitative terms decreased by 12,12% compared to last month (5301 units versus 6032 units in October). Sales of domestic cars, partly as a result of the temporary suspension of loans on preferential terms by some banks, decreased by 31,5% (1067 units versus 1558 units in October)

In total, since the beginning of this year, official dealers have sold cars worth 1904 million USD, which is 43,3% less than the same figure last year – 3357,2 million USD.

Importers account for 80,76% of the total amount, namely 1537,7 million USD. The share of national producers accounts for 353,6 million USD. The average offer price for cars and SUVs in November was 15805 thousand USD. A significant decline in the average price of cars is due to the devaluation of the national currency.
