For reference:

The first delivery pickup trucks with a small platform for transporting small consignments based on passenger cars with internal combustion engines appeared at the beginning of the 1910th century in Europe and the USA. In the second half of the XNUMXs, the largest American automobile manufacturers Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet launched their mass assembly line.

Throughout the 1910s through the 1970s, pickup trucks were considered strictly utilitarian vehicles, primarily needed by farmers and small businesses, and as auxiliary delivery trucks for transportation, service, construction, and road repair companies.

Currently, there are conventionally two main design schools of “pickup construction”: the European-Australian one, which involves the creation of a pickup truck based on a conventional passenger model with a monocoque body, and the American-Asian one, in which the pickup truck is based on a durable frame chassis, often unified with all-wheel drive SUVs (SUVs). ). In the 1990s and the first half of the 2000s, mass demand shifted from passenger cars to pickup trucks, which led to the emergence of new brands in this segment, including even such prestigious ones as Cadillac and Lincoln.
