Kazakhstan will begin mass production of electric vehicles

On September 20, the V Forum of Mechanical Engineers of Kazakhstan opened in Astana. Within the framework of the Forum, a meeting of the automotive industry section was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Association of Kazakhstan Auto Business (AKAB) Andrey Lavrentiev. The main topic of the section was the development of electric transport and the production of electric vehicles.

The theme of the “Automotive Industry” section, which was traditionally organized by the Association of Kazakhstan Automotive Business, was innovations in automotive technology. Electric transport.

Within the framework of the forum, not only the leading automakers of Kazakhstan, but also representatives of global automakers from European and CIS countries, as well as representatives of ministries, departments and committees gathered on one platform.

The first vice minister for investment and development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alik Serikovich Aidarbaev, took part in the work of the section. The speaker noted the importance of the development of electric transport for Kazakhstan and spoke about the pace and main trends in the development of the automotive industry in Kazakhstan.

One of the global trends is the development of the production of environmentally friendly cars in order to protect the environment, primarily electric vehicles. Global manufacturers in China, Europe and the USA announce a complete refusal to produce and sell cars with internal combustion engines. In the Russian market, it is predicted that by 2020, 4-5% of total sales will come from electric cars.

“Kazakhstan strives to meet global trends, so it is planned to implement the production of electric vehicles in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The pilot production of electric vehicles has already been tested at the Kostanay plant. Extensive research has been carried out on the possibility of operating vehicles in the climatic and infrastructural conditions of our country. Work is underway to reduce the cost of an electric vehicle for the end buyer. The ROP operator, with the assistance of AKAB and the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has begun work on the development of infrastructure for electric cars,” said First Vice Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alik Aidarbayev in his report.

The moderator of the section, Andrey Lavrentyev, spoke about global trends in the development of electric transport in the world. According to the President of ACAB, in 2016, sales of electric vehicles worldwide rose to a record high of 750 thousand. The expert also cited data from international agencies that the volume of electric vehicles in the world has been growing since 2010 and in 2016 crossed the 2 million threshold. In his opinion, the main task that now needs to be solved is to minimize the battery charge time.

The second part of the section was devoted to the development of electric transport infrastructure.

General Director of e-Line Vladislav Rodin spoke about trends in the development of a network of charging stations in Ukraine, a market where this area is rapidly developing. According to him, Kazakhstan has a unique chance to organize an ideal model for the development of infrastructure for electric transport, taking into account the experience of other countries where it has already been implemented.

Candidate of Technical Sciences of KazNTU Ruslan Utebaev demonstrated a charging station made in Kazakhstan.

Mr. Aidarbaev also noted that mechanical engineering is one of those industries that directly affects the social and economic development of the country. And enterprises that intend to achieve success, improve efficiency, invest in technical upgrades, produce competitive products and conquer global markets will be provided with comprehensive assistance.

“We are confident that through the joint efforts of the Government and business we will be able to create a competitive and export-oriented automotive industry,” said the First Vice Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Also, within the framework of the Forum, the industry association AKAB, represented by Andrey Lavrentiev, together with the Ministry of Investment and Development, awarded representatives of domestic manufacturing companies with the “Honorary Mechanical Engineer of Kazakhstan” badge.
