Main results of the activities of automotive industry enterprises for the first half of 2017

During the period from January to June of this year, changes occurred both in the structure of sales in the domestic market - the share of Kazakhstan-made cars increased to 40,7% in June, and in production - the volume of products produced at Kazakhstan factories increased 4 times, and the model line was replenished with 9 new items

According to AKAB, for the six months of 2017, sales of domestically produced cars in the domestic market increased by 47,34% compared to the same period last year and reached 6838 units. In monetary terms, this figure is 51,3 billion tenge.

Passenger cars account for 50% of the domestic car sales structure, SUVs account for 36%, and buses and commercial vehicles account for the rest.

The share of sales of domestically produced cars in Kazakhstan in June amounted to 40,7%. The import volume of respectively sold imported cars decreased in June and amounted to 59,3% of the share of total sales, whereas in the previous months of this year it reached the level of 70%.

In total, 2017 units were sold on the official market of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the first half of 20. new cars for a total amount of 876 billion tenge including exports. Kazakhstanis spent 180,7 billion tenge on the purchase of cars in June.

Toyota has remained the sales leader on the Kazakh market for all 6 months - in the first half of 2017, 3961 cars of this brand were sold, the market share was 19,9%. Lada is in second place with a result of 3402 units. and a share of 17%. The increasingly popular Ravon closes the top three with 1293 vehicles; this brand accounts for 6,5% of total sales.

By the middle of the year, there was significant growth in the market, so official sales in June amounted to 5172 cars, including exports, which is 34% more than the May result (3868 units in May). For comparison, in March, taking into account export supplies, official dealers sold 2841 cars.

Similar trends can be traced in the Russian market - experts there also note a slow start to sales at the beginning of the year, while June showed an increase of 15%.

According to analytics from the AUTOSTAT agency, the Russian car market grew by 2017% in the first half of 6,9. While car sales in Kazakhstan in quantitative terms at the moment have still not reached the level of last year and are lagging behind by 10,5%.

At the same time, the production volume of passenger cars and commercial vehicles in Kazakhstan exceeded last year's figures by almost 4 times.

According to the Statistics Committee, in the six months of this year, 8 units of equipment were produced in Kazakhstan (including cars, trucks and buses, excluding agricultural machinery, trailers and semi-trailers) with a total value of 637 billion tenge, which is 64,5 vehicles more than for the same period last year.

In total, enterprises - members of the Association - produced products worth 40,8 billion tenge for the period from January to June.

A significant increase in product output was shown by the Kostanay enterprise - the SaryarkaAvtoProm automobile plant. The volume of car production at this production site in the second quarter of 2017 exceeded the volume of the first quarter by 3,8 times. In quantitative terms, the volume of car production in the first half of the year at this production site amounted to 2 units worth 373 billion tenge. In June, the volume of production in monetary terms at this enterprise amounted to 33,75% of the total production volume in the country.

The largest production volume, according to AKAB, is in the passenger car segment, 90,1% (including sedans, SUVs, and light commercial vehicles). In 2017, 7 units of this type rolled off the assembly lines of Kazakh automobile manufacturing enterprises. The share of trucks and buses of all types accounts for 779% of production, which corresponds to 9,93 units.

Also during the reporting period, domestic manufacturers expanded the range of cars they produced. According to AKAB, since 2017, production sites in Kazakhstan have launched the production of 9 new models: Chevrolet NIVA, RAVON Nexia R3, Lada Vesta, Xray, Largus passenger cars, Iveco Crossway, Urbanway and Hyundai Trucks Universe buses, as well as the KAMAZ 65116 truck.

Trends in the development of automobile production in Kazakhstan also coincide with the development of the automobile industry in Russia, however, the growth rate of production in the Republic of Kazakhstan significantly exceeds similar indicators in the neighboring state. According to Rosstat, in the six months of 2017, 20,7% more passenger cars rolled off Russian assembly lines than in the same period last year, while production growth in the Republic of Kazakhstan amounted to 280,4%.

June 2017 was marked not only by an increase in production and demand within the country, but also by a multiple increase in export sales - this month 584 cars were exported to foreign markets, while in May the export volume was 47 units. In just 6 months of this year, 925 cars were exported. Let us remind you that Kazakhstan exports Hyundai commercial equipment, JAC, Toyota, Lexus and Lada passenger cars.
