According to Association of Kazakhstan Auto Business (AKAB), for the entire 2018 the administrative police authorities registered 1 194 254 vehicles of all types (transactions, including re-registration, change of vehicle owners), which 14,8%more than in 2017.

The year started on a positive note - despite the fact that the first months of the calendar year are characterized by a traditionally small number of registrations, the first quarter was already ahead of the results of the second quarter of 2017 (259 810 против 253 193 registrations). Average growth rate at the beginning of the year + 7,5% monthly.

In addition to the increase in activity in the market starting from the second quarter, paid combinations with new letters G, I, J, Q on license plates also contributed to repeated registrations. In total, at the end of the year, over 15 thousands state registration license plates of high demand, for a total amount exceeding 4 billion tenge.

At the end of June 2018, the densely populated South Kazakhstan region was abolished. The Turkestan region with its center in Turkestan and the city of republican significance Shymkent appeared on the map of Kazakhstan, which was assigned the “17” region on license plates. In total, in the second quarter registered 303 606 Vehicle. In the summer, the growth rate slowed, but in quantitative terms, registrations did not fall below 100 thousand per month. In the fall, purchase and sale transactions went up again, and October 2018 set a record for the number of registrations over the past three years (112 895 registrations).

The share of initial registration against the background of the total number of registrations in January-December increased from 6,8% to 7,1% — for the first time registered in Kazakhstan 84 886 vehicles for 13 977 more cars than in 2017.

Secondary registration accounts for the rest 1 109 368 auto, this 92,9% of the total number of registrations. The country's vehicle fleet continues to age - almost two thirds of the total number of registrations since the beginning of 2018 were made up of vehicles older than 10 years (790 171 unit). The largest share of registrations for equipment is older 20 years - 464 236 auto. From 10 to 20 years old - 325 935 units. For equipment aged from 3 to 10 years accounts 290 205 car, up to 3 years – 112 833 auto.

By region, most cars were registered in 2018 in the former South Kazakhstan region (including Shymkent и Turkestan region) - 173 925registered cars. IN Almaty region registered since the beginning of the year 173 453 vehicles, in Almaty (151 030 units) and in Astana (101 431units). The top five is closed by the Karaganda region - 81 967 auto.
