Domestic motorists are most willing to part with old Ladas, Moskviches and Volgas.
According to AKAB and the ROP Operator, for the period from November 21, 2016 to April 25, 2017 in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as part of the program for the redemption of old cars, collection points accepted 14 vehicles (category M322).
The leader in the acceptance of old cars is Shymkent, where 1897 cars were collected, Taldykorgan is in second place, 1163 cars were collected there, the city of Almaty closes the top three, 989 out-of-service vehicles were purchased there.
The most popular car models handed over for recycling are: VAZ-2105, VAZ-2106, VAZ 2101, GAZ 3110, Moskvich-2140 and Mazda 626. The “oldest” vehicle included in the VETS buyback program was the “Moskvich” produced in 1948 in Uralsk, and the “youngest” vehicles transferred for recycling were 2 cars produced in 2012.
The average age of vehicles accepted for recycling is 25-30 years. According to the Ministry of Investment and Development, at the time of the launch of the recycling program, the republic’s vehicle fleet consisted of 4,7 million vehicles, of which 58,3% were 20 years or more old. Thus, according to the ministry, the introduction of a recycling fee is aimed primarily at solving environmental problems during the operation of cars, updating the country's vehicle fleet, as well as stimulating domestic automakers to produce environmentally friendly vehicles.
For convenience and simplification of the procedure for handing over an old car for recycling, an electronic queue was introduced into the Program for the redemption of old cars.
