The agricultural machinery fleet in Kazakhstan needs updating

In 2015 and 2016, the production of combine harvesters increased by 19%. While tractor production decreased by 3%. The vast majority of tractors produced are Belarus models (based on MTZ, SemAz LLP, Semey), grain harvesters are models Esil (64%, Kostanay branch of Agromashholding LLP) and Vector (31%, PO KZ Vector LLP, Kokshetau ).

On average, over the past three years, per 1000 tractors in the fleet of agricultural enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan, less than 8 units were produced by domestic manufacturers. For combines, this figure is slightly higher - 10 units. The Sampo and Yesil models stand out noticeably in this regard, the production volumes of which per 1000 units of the same name in the fleet are 459 and 236, respectively. The production of Vector combines has shown a significant increase of 2,2 times in recent years.

As of January 1, 2016, the agricultural enterprises of the republic had 154 tractors and 162 combines. The main share of tractors was wheeled (46%, 573 units), the main share of combines was grain harvesters (83%, 127 units).

Over the past two years, there has been a slight reduction in the number of agricultural machinery (for tractors by 1,3%, for combines by 4,8%). At the same time, however, on the contrary, there is an increase in certain types of combines: potato harvesters - by 52%, forage harvesters - by 12%, rice harvesters - by 10%, corn harvesters - by 4,5%.

In 2016, agricultural entities purchased 2 tractors and 601 combines. The vast majority of tractors purchased over the past three years are wheeled (1%). The number of purchased crawler tractors is extremely small (294 units, 99,7%).

The volume of purchases of tractors by agricultural entities in 2016, after some growth, fell by 11% below the level of 2014. On the contrary, for combines - after a slight decrease, they exceeded the volumes of 2014 by 14%.

In 2014-2016 For every thousand imported tractors, 234 domestically produced wheeled tractors were sold; for self-propelled forage harvesters, this figure is 213 units. The number of domestic grain harvesters sold exceeded the volume of corresponding imports by 12%.

Imports of tractors over the previous two years decreased by more than 2 times, while imports of grain harvesters increased slightly. In terms of imported equipment, sales volumes of domestic manufacturers over the past three years have been quite significant. This is especially true for sales of domestic grain harvesters, which exceed import volumes. For wheeled tractors and forage harvesters, sales volume exceeds a fifth

Judging by the data of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the share of serviceable tractors in the fleet of agricultural enterprises is quite high and stable (96-98%). However, every year about a third or more of the existing fleet went through renovations, and last year this proportion increased by 4%.

85% of tractors and 54% of combines have a service life exceeding 15 years. The rate of fleet renewal is 1-3%, while the norm is 10-12%. Due to the fact that the actual service life of agricultural machinery exceeds the standard by 5-10 years, the real annual need for fleet renewal is lower than the standard. At the same time, the actual volumes of SHT purchases are far from even the real needs for fleet renewal.
