Creating a recycling industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan will require 78 billion tenge and five years.

At the 1st Kazakhstan Automobile Forum, President of the Association of Kazakhstan Automotive Business (AKAB) Andrey Lavrentiev spoke about the prospects for the development of the domestic automobile industry and AKAB projects.

In particular, according to ACAB, the domestic market in the coming years may reach a sales volume of 300 thousand new cars per year, amounting to 6 billion dollars. At the same time, up to 40% of these cars will be produced by domestic enterprises.

Among the current priority tasks, the head of ACAB noted the development and support of the domestic automobile industry, including within the EAEU, the development of the recycling industry, as well as safety and environmental issues.

Particular attention during the speech was paid to the issue of creating a car recycling industry.

To date, there is a developed concept that was presented to the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, MINT and NPP. According to calculations by PREKO Consulting, the creation of this industry will require about 78 billion tenge and may take about 5 years.

Speaking about safety and environmental issues, Andrey Lavrentiev noted a number of main problems that need to be solved. This is the dominance of old cars in the total mass of civilian cars, which cause significant harm to the environment, as well as issues of the need for technical inspection (MOT), which periodically arise in society. Andrey Lavrentyev emphasized the need to undergo maintenance, since everyone must be responsible for the operation and technical condition of the car. Separately, the President of ACAB raised the topic of illegal taxis, which are a threat to road safety due to lack of control in terms of the physical condition of the driver and the technical condition of the vehicle.

In addition, during the forum, other speakers paid attention to the recent launch of Toyota Fortuner production in Kazakhstan. In particular, the head of TanMediaGroup Armanzhan Baytasov and the chairman of the board of directors of Galanz Bottlers Tursen Alaguzov thanked Andrey Lavrentyev for his contribution to the development of the Kazakh automobile industry and for his direct participation in the implementation of the Toyota project in Kazakhstan.
